Greetings!
I'm really glad you've taken the time to visit and read what I've been thinking about lately. I'm Dave, and I'm a teacher educator in Iowa. Most of what I write about here is education related, but as the tagline at the top of my blog indicates, I write about teaching, learning, technology, students, faith, and school culture. As a former middle school teacher and current teacher-of-teachers these things are top of mind for me. The courses I teach in foundations and methods and educational technology provide a lot of food for thought, and I often wind up with things to share about what I'm thinking at the moment.
Speaking of, you should know something about this blog. I use is as a reflection space. I love to learn new things, so I read a lot, and I'm active on social media (I love Twitter!), and I talk a lot with colleagues (both face-to-face and digitally), and I need a place where I can make sense of what I think about these new ideas. This blog is part of my reflective practice. I'm working out my thinking, and I'm doing it in a semi-public space here so that others can read along, and comment, and encourage me, and push back, and challenge me, and affirm me. I hope you'll take the time to share your thoughts on what you read here.
I like to think of this blog as a work in progress of what I think about these topics. I try to make sure that my thoughts are fairly well-formed by the time I post things here, but you should consider this the working draft of things that might show up elsewhere in the future. I hope you'll consider the ideas you read here (as my friend and mentor, John Van Dyk, once put it) "Somewhat-Tentative, Though Pretty-Sure-Most-of-the-Time, Open-to-Revision, and Somewhere-on-the-Road-to-Sanctification."
That ought to cover it for now. Thanks for reading!
